Well, you'll just have to show them by making shaghetti squash together.  Kids are always amazed when they scrape out the noodle like imposter after baking it in the oven. Over thirty years later, California Rolls are mainstream, and so popular you can purchase them at just about any supermarket.  They are also easy, and fun to make at home.  The only tricky part is getting to a specialty supermarket to find the ingredients and kitchen tools you need, (I went to R-N Market in Fresno).  Have fun making these and get the whole family involved.
