Recipes for the contest were entered by children in Fresno, Kings & Tulare counties from July 1st through August 29. The entries were then sent to Klaus Tenbergen, Culinology® Program Director from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at California State University, Fresno. Culinology® students tested recipes from each age group and selected ten finalists.

At the cook-off, each child will create a sandwich masterpiece, pairing it with a vegetable or fruit side dish. There are two age brackets for the competition: 6 – 10 years and 11 – 14 years, and there are five competitors for each bracket.

The kids aren’t just cooking for fun; they’re cooking for big prizes: four tickets to Disneyland or a Build-A-Bear Party for 10 with Dairy Queen Ice Cream. The eight runners up will get prizes from Comcast and the retailers at the Visalia Mall.

Join Bearemy, the Build-A-Bear Workshop mascot, on Saturday from 12:30pm until 2:30pm where he will hand out the Kids’ Cook-Off first prize, a Build-A-Party celebration valued at $150.00.
